New! The Poweshiek County Fair Queen Pageant will be held on
stage in the showring Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Personal interviews with
the judges will be held on Tuesday July 15th in the evening (time to be
announced). Contestants will be judged on interview, self introduction,
speech and impromptu question.
This is not a beauty pageant! A talent is not required. The newly
crowned queen and court will preside over the 2008 Poweshiek County Fair
beginning at 7:45 am on Thursday (July 17th) with the Flag Raising
Ceremony and continue through the conclusion of the Fair. The queen will
also represent Poweshiek County at the Iowa State Fair Queen Pageant
held in August. Contestants must be at least 16 years of age and not
more the 21 years of age on August 7th, the first day of the 2008 Iowa
State Fair. Complete rules and entry forms are available at the Fair
Office. Entries are due July 1, 2008.

Fair Queen contestants who are also exhibiting livestock are allowed to
discuss an exception on check-in times with the superintendents to allow
them time to check in their own animals and also be a part of the Queen
competition.
